When Snead acquired Miller I was skeptical that he would help all that much. The cost was high, he was injured with that ankle, had to learn a new system, and his contract was running out at season end. I completely underestimated Miller and his value. Our D was transformed after he got healthy. We wouldn’t have won the SB without him. Snead actually hit a HR with Miller. I was SO wrong.
Similarly, I was skeptical when OBJ was signed (Woods was still healthy at the time). Again, I underestimated OBJ’s value to this team. He was virtually uncoverable once he acclimated. Moreover, he was a great teammate instead of the diva I feared he would be. I whiffed on my OBJ take and Snead once again clearly knew WTH he was doing. I’d call OBJ another HR signing without which I kinda doubt we win that SB. I was SO wrong. Again.
So now Snead signs AR and trades Woods to save $7.1M in cap that will undoubtedly be used on other pressing needs. Well, I’ve learned my damned lesson. I can see how AR will be a bigger ‘Stafford type’ weapon in McVay’s evolving O and I’m gonna trust in Snead for now. He’s definitely earned it in my book.
Snead’s goal is to continually improve this roster with players that McVay likes. To make an omelette one must crack some eggs but it’s just business.
As I’ve posted elsewhere it’s not a good idea for fans to ‘adopt’ certain players. In today’s NFL that will inevitably lead to heartbreak. I don’t do it anymore and thus spare myself unnecessary pain down the road. Yeah, I ‘really like’ many of our Ram players but I no longer ‘adopt’ them and consider them ‘family’.
