the club was high on the kid, and didn't want to have to play the open market for his services bidding through free agency.
they pulled the trigger on him

It was Alaric Jackson that the club hit with a healthy free agent contract.
And there ought to have been some free agent buzz on the offensive lineman.
He's got the physique, he's shown promise at the college level. And it looked like he wasn't out of his depths given the pro snaps he took in one game.

Garrett developing will take more work than Jackson, imo
