First, I don't know who a replacement could be and I have 100% confidence we're not going to have to worry about it for at least a decade.
But.... here's the thing. The coach of an LA team must be a larger than life guy who can operate in a social media world, and be able to get Superstars to work together as a team. He has to have a certain something that isn't cowtowed by Superstars and doesn't display one iota of insecurity and at the same time allows his stars to be stars and to be themselves.
Why? Because only Superstar laden teams matter in LA. Lunch pail teams don't matter. "Good" teams don't matter.
And the social media aspect cannot be understated. You have to have a media savvy coach who grew up in the social media world and understands it and embraces it and knows that his players do too.
Teams like NY that keep getting "good" coaches who are lunch pail types will NOT succeed. The coaches that succeed in these giant media markets MUST be able to have that huge personality to go along with everything else and are able to identify with these Millennial and Gen Z players.
