My parents
loved KMPC. They would carpool to work and when I was old enough to drive during the summer when I didn’t have school, they’d let me use the car (rarely) during the day. The deal was I drop them off at work and then pick them up when they were off.
They, of course, had control of the radio, so it was KMPC on the way there and then back.
They mostly loved the old music, the big band and some old time jazz, but the news programming was good too. A lot of characters: Gary Owens (if I recall), Jim Healy, and then Robert W. Morgan who had the famous Malavesi “interview”…a literal snorfest.
Good memories. But I enjoyed it most listening to Dick Enberg call the Rams games. I can’t remember who his color commentator was. I don’t think it was Jack Snow that early, but it could have been.
