I agree. McVay is a coach who has the structure for success laid out like no other coach has done. It’s like he approached it as a CEO.
However, his youth is a liability. I’m still bothered by that empty set on 3rd and 1 at the end of the half of the last 9er game. I barely could keep up with McVay in an Xs and Os chat. But after watching 50+ years of football, even as a fan with scarcely a coaching background, I knew for certain that was a failure waiting at hand.
So, he has all the ivory tower part down, but his practical approach is still largely lacking an intuition of what works for football.
