Not sure who's had the most comp picks over the last 3 drafts, but I'd bet the Rams are up near the top.
It's a great system if you can pull it off, and if you hit on those mid and later round comp picks.
Rams get a year from a really good player, on the cheap, and then get something in return. He gets to rehabilitate his player's market and makes scads of money on a new deal with another team.
But... only certain teams can pull this off. Now that the Rams have established themselves as the elite at the top of the market to do this both for players and coaches, we have guys come to us that otherwise wouldn't. What it really is, is the NFL version of recruiting. And if you think its not, just listen to OBJs interview with Chris Simms. And look at how many HCs, OCs, and DCs McVay has spun off.... pretty much every year. And then the guys he picks up to do a great job for him because they are the next wave of guys that many NFL teams would like to acquire; but all too often have to wait for the Rams to move.
Quite the organization has been created in Ramville.
