I raise my hand high for being wrong about OBJ. I thought the Rams were idiots for picking him up. Then I thought they were prescient when days later Woods went down. And now he looks like a star again and according to all sources is a joy to be around and a great team addition.
That said, he's making himself a lot of money. Teams will see the new or re-newed OBJ and throw wads of money at him.
The Rams are wed to sizeable contracts with Woods and Kupp and there's no way OBJ is going to take some large discount to stay here. He's smart. He knows he has only a few years to make all he can and then it's over.
I suspect we're looking at a 3 year $40 mil deal to keep him. That's not happening. If it was half that it would be more than the Rams can afford.
Besides: there will be some player....TE or WR.... that wants to rehab their image and get a do over, and will sign for a year for not much money. And LA has become, hands down, that place.
The guy they'll work very hard to keep is Von Miller. Stafford was baked into being a Ram for the rest of his career the second the trade was consummated. And Snead didn't throw a 2nd round pick to Denver for a half-season rental.
