Nope. In the press conference he said he knew the ref needed to touch the ball to activate the next play. He felt that they just didn't execute well enough. It was an exceedingly bad play to run. A pro QB should be able to reach the end zone and you either heave it or continue to throw boundary passes. No time for any running play with no time outs. Couldn't believe it when he took off and was even more shocked when he didn't sprint for the sideline.
If this play was actually made by the OC then he needs to lose his job. There's no circumstance where this play works. With 25 seconds? Maybe. But, I still think you have the time for multiple shots from where you are and that's better than one red zone shot.
