McVay called the empty backfield on third and inches and gave momentum to the Whiners.. I was pissed the rest of the game - you can read the GTF.. Once they scored the FG and got the kick off in the second half, I knew we were screwed.. We did manage to have a chance, but, like you said, McVay brain farted again and decided making them burn one time out was not worth the risk of throwing an incompletion...

If I remember correctly, he's gone for it on 4th down to seal a game a few times.. Seattle? Maybe Dallas in the playoffs? Or maybe that was third down.. not sure..

it was like 4th and 5 when they punted back to the Niners, so I don't blame him not going for it there, BUT what I do have major issue with his complete lack of creativity or awareness
when he basically ran the same exact run play on 1st and 2nd for little to no gain, then ran another run to same side that the other two runs went for little to no gain...played right into the Niners hands

That was just a straight up coward series that showed ZERO faith in his QB to throw us to a win and did nothing but force the Niners to use their timeouts yet still left them with almost a 1;30 on the clock to work with....

Probably the most irate I've ever been with McVay
