well technically, Rapp was 14 yards deep at snap, he was backpeddling to the 30 yard line at snap. Your screenshot is like maybe 1 second early.
I actually thought that Ramsey was too deep at 9 yards back.
I think Rapp wanted him closer to cover the flat, but Ramsey was checking the alignment and probably thinking there is no way that 300lb full back is going to release to his side and wanted Rapp to cover short middle for the play that Ramsey was guessing was going the other way.
Baltimore should have audibled out of that play and recognized that they actually had the numbers on Ramsey's side.
Even though Gaines was playing 1 tech, he didn't angle the A gap, instead, he played straight up against the center.
So the Ravens could have just ran it to Ramsey's side and completely out numbered the Rams D.
Even still, #45 made a good play on contain. If Huntley did keep the ball, #45 had contain and would have sucked Huntley to where Ramsey would have been if he played the flat. I think Rapp was right based on the scheme.. I think Ramsey saw something different and was right as well. Ramsey studies alot of tendencies.. he knows tendencies and is probably guessing right. The difference is who is allowed to make the team call on defense and audible out. I don't know.
