Those stand alone stats only illustrate how the individual parts can misrepresent the whole. But taking a #1 unit and dropping to #16 is a failure in my book. Context matters
Are you INTENTIONALLY ignoring the facts?
16th? It's 11th.
And you say context matters, that is WHY I mention that the pick 6s and so
on affect the points allowed, including points the offense gives up
skews that stat.
If you take out those pick 6s and the fumble and the drives started
inside the 10 and then for ALL the teams
the Rams are 5th in points allowed. Just saw that on Twitter
So you can call it a failure, but it's just not a serious or credible
opinion.
5 in defensive points allowed is not a failure
An 11th ranked defense is not a failure. How can you even fathom that?
a 9th ranked defensive passer rating is not a failure.
Being ranked the 6th best defense DVOA (Football Outsiders) is not a failure
Allowing the 2nd fewest passing TDs in the NFL is not a failure
Being 8th in sacks (one fewer game than others) is not a failure
Being 2nd in Yards per rush is not a failure
Being 8th vs the rush in not a failure
Being 10th in INT % is not a failure
even being tied for 17th in points allowed is not a failure
when you consider 6 of the TDs are not on the defense they are on offense
