You're right, if you think Goff is cute or he's your cousin, you're going to have emotional feelings toward him that goes beyond football. I'm speaking strictly about on the field. And on the field, Goff was not living up to his cost. Which, even that would be tolerable to some degree if he was progressing.
But at the end of the day, the Rams paid a crap-ton of capitol to develop this guy and wound up with nothing for it. Was it Goff's fault? Well, yes. He's the one who didn't respond to the golden opportunity. I don't think he was trying to play poorly but he was still doing it. It's his responsibility. And he wasn't being asked to do anything that he wasn't capable of. It's not like we were asking Rudy Ruettiger to be Dan Marino.
We lost 2 years of potential SB contenders waiting to see if Goff could regain what he was already doing. The cost, the time, the opportunities...Goff is a blight and I couldn't care less if he ever wins another game. He may be as sweet as apple pie in person but I don't care about him personally. I doubt very seriously if he cares about 99.9% of the fans personally.
