I think the new look is cleaner, fresher, and more modern than the old classic look. It's 2020's, and fits the new digs. I get that they didn't want to go into this ultra modern venue with a look that was basically more than 50 years old.
I'm still adjusting to it, but its growing on me.
Sorry max, I don't get it or agree with it. A new stadium is not a reason to HAVE to change the uni at all.
In fact, I can argue that sticking with the "traditional look" would've been a good idea for the new stadium due to the fact that the team was "stolen" from L.A. all those years ago.
It would be like actually "giving back" the team they lost by keeping the traditional look alive. They changes they made almost seem like a slap in the face to that tradition and all the life long Rams fans too.
As many here and elsewhere have shown, the Ferragamo's that everyone loved sooo much could very easily have been "tweaked" and not to mention that helmet horn did NOT need to be neutered. (Especially since they KNEW how much that design meant to the fans and ex players too! The significance of the helmet horn to the NFL is historic and is the ORIGINAL helmet design.)
I think everyone here would agree and understand some "tweaking" needed to be done to the uni's. The new sleeveless look made our shoulder horns look very weak.
IMO, what everyone disagrees with is the extent of the "tweaks" that were done and the neutering of the horn would not have been suggested by one single Rams fan of being a good idea. This was the stupidest part of the "re-brand" and the biggest fail. I think everyone would agree they could have accomplished more by doing less and leaving the d%mn horn alone!
Crazylegs has done SO MANY examples of what should have/could have been done. IMO, his examples would have been LOVED by 100% of Rams fans new AND old.
The re-brand is nowhere near 100% accepted...not even 50%. Maybe 40% accept/love the new uni's.
I like Crazyleg's odds better!!!
Anything less than 100% acceptance of this re-brand makes it a failure. Why? I don't recall anyone...not one Rams fan saying they thought a uni change was needed. Most, if not all, were very happy with the uni's they had.
Having said that, it made it very hard for anything they rolled out to be 100% accepted. The drastic over thought changes they did make ultimately sank the ship known as the SS L.A. Re-Brand.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
