The Colts were playing a lot of two high safeties and dropping those guys back 20 yards from the LOS in most cases negating the ability for deep pass plays. In the first half they showed a single high safety look and right before the snap rotated the safety from the box back deep. The week before Seattle killed the Colts who played a single high safety look (cover 3) and Lockett destroyed them. My guess is the Colts looked at the Bears-Rams film and said let’s take the deep plays out and make the Rams grind out drives throwing the short to mid range passes and run the ball to score. With two deep safeties it likely made more sense to keep Jefferson who can run crossing routes and other intermediate routes than Jackson or Atwell because the safeties were playing so deep and keeping everything in front of them. It appeared Stafford tried to look deep a couple of times but that Cover 2 safety scheme forced Stafford to dump off to Henderson a few times. I think given the Bucs tough run defense the Rams will have to spread the banged up TB secondary and we should see more Jackson.

In terms of pass receptions:
I saw Kupp, Woods, Jefferson and Higby on the field. Each of them were in the box score.
Kupp did heavy damage to the Colts with 163 yards 2 TDs and a crucial 3rd down. Woods contributed with 64 yards.
Henderson caught 3 for 29
Higby and Jefferson each had 1 reception.
Tutu returned 1 punt. I did not see him line up with the offense. I did not see Desean Jackson line up in the offense. It is curious given the camp reports were so positive on Desean Jackson.[/quote]
