Thank you Aly for making these posts. They are such a pleasure to read and they're informative.
I'm not referring to your post when I say "hype," instead, I am referring to all the talking heads in TV and YouTube that I enjoy watching saying the Rams are SB bound, or that we're a playoff bound team. There was way too much hype all over. One great game isn't enough to base that upon. It's a weak foundation. It was one great game, and we are allowed to be a little giddy, but the SB, like Frodo going up the slopes of Mount Doom, is a long, hard, slog ahead.
The two areas that concern me both of which you mentioned:
1) The OLine was good but didn't look great to me. Prior to the game I've read some of the Chicago fans sites and they had some concerns about their D Line. Their D Line looked good against our OLine in the run game, until later in the game. Maybe that was due to the Bears D was focusing on stopping the pass.
2) Chicago ran the ball very well and our guys always looked to be a step or two late in making contact.
Right now, I'm thinking that the Ram's performance against the 9ers in both games will be the true marker of how good our team is. I'm taking this quote, from the great American philosopher Richard Fliehr, a little bit out of context but, "to be that man you've' got to beat the man."
