I like and agree with much of what you said.
One point I'll make is that there were whispers on social media that the Detroit Lions were monitoring the Rams decision over QB Bryce Perkins, and considered grabbing him if he was released. I think the Rams dodged a huge bullet by keeping Perkins.
The Dallas Cowboys reportedly were quite intent on scooping up punter Johnny Hekker if the Rams cut him. It's no small coincidence that a Dallas reporter broke the news about Hekker reworking his contract to stay with the LA Rams.
Roster positions are tight. 10 spots for OL and 7 for DL seem heavy. 3 spots for RB, 6 for WR (with broken armed Ben Skowronek), 5 for OLB (Obo is heading for a short stint at IR), and 4 at CB seem light. I'm guessing the Rams will add extra depth on the practice squad for these positions.
Finally, the Rams front office got huge wins by signing punter Corey Bojorquez to the 90 man roster. I'd read that Les Snead actually SAVED the team more money than it spent on Bojorquez by the salary concessions from Hekker to remain on the team. Plus the Rams will swap a 2023rd 7th for a 2023rd 6th-round pick. Have to hand it to Les Snead, that all was a win-win-win trifecta.
That's why it never hurts to give a free agent a flyer. Sometimes he doesn't have to make the roster to benefit the team...
