looks like JK Dobbins may be done for the year with likely ACL tear in first qtr last night in preseason game.
this is exactly why I have no issues with how McVay runs preseason

We lost our RB in offseason training we get rid of that too. Injuries are part of the game I get the cautious approach but you can't predict these or plan for them either. You take the same chances of getting hurt in practice. Mcvays approach hasn't hurt us to much in the regular season as we are in the playoff hunt every year but who know if our offense and defense could be even better if we had some preseason action.
I think the argument can be made in either direction but I lean toward getting your starter's feet wet. If guys like Brady are out there taking preseason snaps then I have to believe there is some value in them that is worth the risk.
McVay gets a lot of benefit of doubt because of the results but I don't think that it has been proven that keeping your starters out during preseason prevents injuries. With Dobbins and Akers, can't the argument be made that the injuries happened early so those teams had time to make other plans? If these guys have something that's going to give, I'd rather have a chance to adjust than have it happen in the first or second game and have to sift through whatever guys are left.
