Again, I was not a fan of the pick or his play in 2019, add the positive COVID Test in 2020 and everything seemed to have gone wring with Allen. However, this off season, he worked on his strength and came to OTA's & camp much bigger plus he's been almost dominant against SJD & Robinson and must have showed well against the Cowboys. There was a hiccup in the scrimmage against the Cowboys between Corbett & Evans, that would have led to a sack. With Allen being the only natural Center on the team at this point if he continues to impress, maybe just maybe the Rams stick with Corbett at RG with Allen getting the start and I agree I have to tip my cap to him because I would have bet he was most likely gone and early reports in OTA's had him taking 3rd team reps.
I hyped up Lewis last year and Rapp as well. Both did not perform like I thought I was wrong
Anyone who wrote off Allen was simply wrong. His tape before the injury was not super but better than Blythe. And last year was a write-off, could not rehab because of COVID
this is a guy who was on a starting career track, then got hurt, then an illness---so anything written about based on last year or early in camp was based on nothing.
This is nothing more than a guy showing who he always was---given a chance to be healthy. It is not a surprise or some jump in abilites other than normal guys who work hard get better. It's that he was better then got hurt and some here discounted his abilites based on --what? I don't know, but not the film.
It is not a surpise. At all. I never thought the was going to be All-Pro, but I knew he was better than Blythe.
We may see some other changes this year as season moves along...too
