it works as long as they hit on mid-round picks...and coach them up.

and it appears they have been doing exactly that these last 3-4yrs. I really like trading our #1 for established talent and signing them to big contracts. I really think the Rams have learned from all those past dead money contracts and will be waay more judicious in the future.

The Rams are clearly using the MoneyBall-type analytics to get players that fit what they are wanting...and then coaching the heck out of them.
McVay seems to have a very good eye for coaches and teachers (his picks for STs coaches are TBD. imo)

(ie. To get a very good starter at FS in the 6th round last year was just heaven sent. I don't think we've had the talent and depth at safety as we do this year...
and they're like 6 deep!! lol )
