All just IMO, and I don't know if he will stick there, but they clearly drafted him as a TE and want him as a TE.
Wes is still the TE coach (along with being the pass game coordinator) and I assume that if they wanted him at WR, then he would be working with the WR coach. In terms of blocking, all the Rams WR block, and they don't learn, drill, and practice that with the TE coach, they do it with the WR coach.
It looks like they are crowded at WR and are building up the TE spot behind Higbee.
He is right now undersized for TE at a (listed) 219 but that's just rookie weight. He puts on 10 NFL pounds nd he can be a move TE.
On offense, this looks like it was a draft of luxury additions like Atwell and Harris fits that. I mean you take an athletic, fast guy who can (hopefully) make plays. They weren't looking for the solid, regular snaps type guys like Kupp or Akers or Higbee.
....
All good points, zn.
I’ll say this.
Harris is looking like a weapon that McVay can incorporate in his game planning. Doesn’t really matter what they or we call his ‘position’, this kid is likely to see snaps and targets this year. He’s already got the attention of both Stafford and McVay, not to mention the media despite the fact that they’ve only seen him in 2 practices total.
I’m trying not to get too far ahead of myself but it’s not easy considering the height, hands, and speed of this kid. I’m thinking he might have ‘IT’. Wow!
