On the surface, it seemed like the Los Angeles Rams gave up a lot to acquire Jalen Ramsey back in 2019. They sent Jacksonville two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder for the cornerback, who had just a year and a half left on his rookie contract.
But after the initial shock of giving up two first-round picks wore off, it was easy to see the value Los Angeles got in the deal. And now almost two years removed, it looks even better for Les Snead and the Rams.
The Jaguars used the final two picks from the trade in the draft last week, making selections in the first and fourth round. After grabbing pass rusher K’Lavon Chaisson last year, they stood to add even more talent to their roster.
But comparing the players Jacksonville came away with in the deal, the Rams seem like big winners thanks to some stellar play from Ramsey since arriving on the West Coast.
Here’s a breakdown of the trade, now that it’s complete.
Jaguars receive:
EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson: 2020 first-round pick (No. 20 overall)
RB Travis Etienne: 2021 first-round pick (No. 25 overall)
EDGE Jordan Smith: 2021 fourth-round pick (No. 121 overall)
Rams receive:
CB Jalen Ramsey: 2 Pro Bowls, 2021 All-Pro
