Here are the picks.
Rams draft picks in 2021
57th Overall Selection (R2-P25): Tutu Atwell, WR, Louisville
103rd Overall Selection (R3-P40, special compensatory pick): Ernest Jones, LB, South Carolina
117th Overall Selection (R4-P12): Bobby Brown, DT, Texas A&M
130th Overall Selection (R4-P25, from Jacksonville): Robert Rochell, CB, Central Arkansas
141st Overall Selection (R4-P36, compensatory pick): Jacob Harris, WR, UCF
174th Overall Selection (R5-P30, from Houston): Earnest Brown IV, EDGE, Northwestern
233rd Overall Selection (R7-P5, from Houston): Jake Funk, RB, Maryland
249th Overall Selection (R7-P21, from Jacksonville): Ben Skowronek, WR, Notre Dame
252nd Overall Selection (R7-R25): Chris Garrett, OLB, Concordia-St. Paul
The only possible’21 starter I see is Ernest Jones at ILB. And that’s only if Snead’s ‘nerds’ got it right with their GPS analytics while 31 other teams got him wrong for 102 picks. Might not be in September but perhaps during this season, or maybe in ‘22.
That’s it...
What about players likely to get significant snaps this season?
Atwell for sure. McVay’s gonna see to that.
Bobby Brown will likely get snaps in some kind of a rotation. Morris needs to know whether he can produce at this level.
Robert Rochell will probably be given snaps to see where his ceiling might be, but not before extensive technique work has been provided. Maybe midseason?
Earnest Brown IV looks iffy for anything much this year. Might be a red shirt year for him.
Again, that’s about it.
The remaining draftees all seem destined for ST snaps. Probably LOTS of them and that’s not a bad thing since Rams ST were so poor last year. New ST coordinator and a ton of new ST players has to be a good thing.
So, for better or worse, that’s my take on likely contributions from this 2021 draft class.
