1) Do you guys think that the colder temp had a strong negative effect on the team's performance?
2) Similarly, do you think fatigue also was a strong factor? That game against Seattle was tough.
It's odd to have had the #1 defense play so poorly. I'm not taking anything away from a good GB team but I think there was more to it than Rodgers and company.
It's a number of things combined. The Rams record in 2020 against teams that had an extra week to prepare is not good. It's not the cold--it wasn't that cold that day. It's also a road game and after (as you said) a tough game the week before.
Here are the games the Rams played against a team that had 2 weeks, whether from a bye or being seeded high for the playoffs:
@ MiamiSF, game 2
@ Green BayHere are the games they played after an especially tough one the week before:
SF, game 2 (previous game was Tampa on the road)
Jets (previous game was New England, not that the Patz were tough but the Rams put a lot into a very physical vengeance game)
@ Green Bay (as we all know and as you said, Seattle the week before--on the road no less)
The 2020 Rams were capable of letting down in games. It depended on external factors like the ones I listed. In the 4 games I listed the defense only really came through in 1 (Miami).
I would add Buffalo as another game where the defense did not 100% show up. That game was littered with broken coverages, for example (though it was early in the season). There were so many that Dan Orlovsky put up a vid of them in twitter.
