Ekern, I'm on board with your post...well done. Shanny regularly out plans McVay and it's infuriating to me. They swept us last year with a depleted roster. Respect...and loathing.
Now that the Rams have the better quarterback, it's not time to ignore the OL, FB, TE contributions both in personnel and scheme. Improving the running game (it's not bad now) should be priority 1 as you suggest.
Cheers
I think it's true that SF out game-planned McVay last year. But there were also extenuating circumstances I think. Or at least it looked that way to me. First, in the 1st game, the Rams came in there taking SF lightly. The week before, SF lost to Miami 17 to 43. The Rams had a few games last year where they downplayed the opponent and did not show up the way they should have (the Jets was another example). In the 2nd game, SF was coming off a bye. The Rams played 3 teams last year who had a week off before they played LA, and the Rams lost all 3 games (Miami, SF game 2, Green Bay).
There's more but those are factors.
