Re: I'll say it: QB is still a crap shoot

Yeah, the Niners along with just about everybody else have not done the best recently at QB. Doesn't mean things won't change. But, honestly, giving up a king's ransom of draft picks to get the leftovers after the first 2 QBs are taken doesn't impress me. If they simply had the 3rd pick that would be one thing. But to give up what they did to get there? If it was any other team than the Niners that always get good media play, they'd be hooted and laughed at every day for playing such an expensive game of pig-in-a-poke.

The Rams easily took the most sure route to an elite QB. Yes, it's expensive in draft capital, but barring a catastrophic injury (that you can never factor in) the Rams are set at QB at an elite level for as long as Stafford wants to play for them (let's guess 5 years or so if current trends hold up).

The Niners? QB? Throw a dart at a board.

It certainly is. And tbh Shanny probably runs the most QB friendly offense in the league in terms of making things easy on the position. There is always a good run game married with good pass catchers to include an elite TE.

I'm tired of all the crap the media is throwing at Jones, acting like he's garbage compared to these high ceiling athletic QB options as if those guys don't have their own question marks. I think it's BS. He's a smart QB who processes quick and can dish the ball decisively from the pocket. That's all Shanny needs.

Question with Jones is what happens when teams flood the middle and make him throw the deep outs over and over. But for them to move up for him means they probably answered that question in the workout.

Don't get me wrong here either... I detest 9er worship and irrational fear of everything Shanny that we see with some Rams fans. So I don't want to do that myself here. But at the same time I don't think this move is some crazy bad move. The 9ers recognize the Rams just got a ton better at QB. And they know they need to get better too, so taking a shot at a guy who fits what they want makes perfect sense to me.
