Thought process #1:
As regards Covid, any risk is too much.
All must have the vaccine despite their preference not to. And this is to protect the public good as decided by ???? Those who choose to not be vaccinated are a danger to society and the world and should rightly be Canceled.
Any choice a player wants to make regarding his workouts and team meetings no matter what contracts or the CBA says is his to make and ought to have no repercussions or loss of pay.
All players can be trusted to work out on their own. No team supervision needed. It will make no difference on team performance when the bullets start to fly.
Virtual meetings are as good as in-person team meetings.
Thought process #2:
Covid will always be a risk, just as any other disease; risk is simply part of life.
Players, and all people, ought to be free to choose to get vaccinated or not. Vaccinated people are protected, so the non-vaccinated cannot give Covid to them. Therefore non-vaccinated people ought not be subject to the Cancel Culture.
Players are subject to contracts and the CBA. They aren't slaves, the are free to choose, but some choices have repercussions including loss of pay.
Some players can be trusted to do proper workouts; others not. The NFL has trainers for a reason; to ensure proper working out and for safety. To meet team standards. It will affect team performance when the bullets start to fly.
Virtual meetings are distantly second best to in person.
This I'm sure is not complete, but from the 30,000 ft. view, it pretty much comes down this. And I doubt there is a compromise to be had.
