I will admit that I'm a bit biased with defensive players but it seems to me that defense has more guys I'm excited about maybe making it to 57 than the offensive options.
The ILBs this year aren't special or anything but I like the options that seem to slot in our neighborhood round two and three. Every year I am hopeful we get lucky with one of these guys and maybe this is the year one they like is there without a top need driving them another direction. I just have a feeling we finally see our ILB room get a LOT better.
Also I am of the mind that Rashad Weaver is the best potential 5T for us in this DL-weak draft. He's heavy-handed. Tall and rangy (which we need). Extremely productive. And very physical. At his size/weight and lacking the speed of the OLB types I estimate he'll start off perhaps at OLB but his eventual position will be 5T. I initially focused in on the guy as a potential Floyd replacement but the more I watch of him the more certain I am he will be a 5T. He's really a perfect fit for this defense. I'm biased here I realize, as I don't watch as much film as you guys but he really stands out to me in things that we need up front to beat the 9ers.
My dream 1-2 draft right now is Jamin Davis round 2 and then Rashad Weaver round 3. I know it's unlikely with Davis probably off the board before we pick but if they can supplement our front seven with those first couple picks it will ensure our defense maintains its rarefied air of production which will be critical come the playoffs.
