Deadpool's 2021 Top 10 by Position List - Offense

April 13, 2021 05:39PM
These are my final positional rankings. Some of these guys (especially the LBers) could end up on 2 or 3 lists. I put them where I personally like them the best.

I put this is in a separate post from my Big Board to make it easier to ask and answer questions, but if the admins want to join them, I do not care.

I will put my own thoughts under each position as far as depth and what I think of some of the prospects.

And just for R2K, I will throw in lines where there are tier breaks. Not all tiers are created equal, so keep that in mind.

QBs:

1. Trevor Lawrence - QB - Clemson - 6'-6" 213 lbs. - Excellent athlete, good judgement in the pocket, makes progressions, very good accuracy to all levels. very good mechanics. More than enough arm strength for all NFL throws. Won't wow you with his speed, but a tough and willing runner. Best QB I have seen since Andrew Luck.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

2. Zac Wilson - QB - BYU - 6'-3" 210 lbs. - Effortless, quick release. Howitzer for an arm. Good athlete inside and outside of the pocket, but not a "running QB". Makes reads but is a bit of a gunslinger, goes through progressions. Accuracy is good.

3. Justin Fields - QB - Ohio State - 6'-3" 220 lbs. - Dynamic athlete outside the pocket. Excellent arm strength with a nice release. Accuracy comes and goes, but has gotten better. A one read QB at this point, but has made progressions. Prototypical new age QB.

4. Trey Lance - QB - NDSU - 6'-3" 225 lbs. - Another dynamic athlete/runner that comes from a pro style offense. Good accuracy, making progressions is a work in progress. but has done it. Excellent arm strength and a nice delivery. Developmental starter due to 19 career starts at FCS level.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

5. Mac Jones - QB - Alabama - 6'-3" 213 lbs. - Average athlete that won't beat you with his legs. Average arm with a decent release. Smart, goes through progressions, understands the defense he is seeing. Can really climb and slide inside the pocket to find throwing lanes and buy time. Long story short: Excellent head with an average body.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

6. Kyle Trask - QB - Florida - 6'-5" 240 lbs. - Sturdy pocket passer with an average arm, good accuracy to all levels and makes good reads and progressions. A career backup from HS all the way up until the last season and a half, will needs some developing. Not a runner at all, but works well inside the pocket.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

7. Jamie Newman - QB - Georgia - 6'-3" 235 lbs. - Sat out 2020-21 season. Good arm, excellent runner with power. Good, not great accuracy. Nice, quick release. A one read QB that will need some coaching. I'd like to see him clean up some mechanical stuff. High ceiling, low floor prospect.

8. Kellon Mond - QB - Texas A&M - 6'-3" 205 lbs. - Good, not great arm that is best in an intermediate passing game, good accuracy that has improved. Does well to go through progressions and make the right reads. Nice release. Average athlete inside and outside the pocket that can make some plays with his legs. A poor man's Dak prescott?

9. Sam Ehlinger - QB - Texas - 6'-2" 222 lbs. - measuring in at 6'-1 1/2", he lacks the desired height for an NFL QB. Average arm strength at best and a long delivery that will need to be fixed. spotty accuracy, but has improved I believe. Can make reads and progressions but is at his best with a 1 read and throw system right now. Willing runner and good at it, not very elusive.

10. Peyton Ramsey - QB - 6'-2" 205 lbs. - decent accuracy, makes progressions. Manipulates the pocket and can extend plays with his legs outside the pocket. Quick release with an average arm.

Lawrence is in a class all of his own, after that there are 3 very good QBs that all have an issue that should not be a problem. Lance's lack of experience, Field's supposed lack of going thru progressions (he can do it, I've seen it everyone has seen it) and Wilson having only 1 really good year. After that there is high end game manager Jones, Trask, who someone will overdraft and then its really a crapshoot.

RBs:

1. Travis Etienne - RB - Clemson - 5'-10" 210 lbs. - Explosive athlete with HR speed. Good route runner with reliable hands. Elusive and shifty with excellent feet/balance. No fumble issues. Lacks the bulk to push a pile, but can run inside effectively. Not a pass blocker right now.

2. Najee Harris - RB - Alabama - 6'-2" 230 lbs. - A battering ram with power to spare, surprisingly nimble for his size. Good vision, durable and a very good receiving option out of the backfield. Not a HR threat, but can break off chunk plays.

3. Javonte Williams - RB - UNC - 5'-10" 220 lbs. - Has feature back size, excellent vision and power. Can pass block and pass catch out of the backfield making him one of the most well rounded backs in the draft.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

4. Michael Carter - RB - UNC - 5'-8" 202 lbs. - The Robin to William's Batman at UNC. Big play speed and wiggle. Can catch out of the backfield. More of a compliment back than a workhorse.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

5. Trey Sermon - RB - Ohio State - 6'-0" 215 lbs. - Tough runner that finishes runs strong. 1 cut back.Good, Not great speed. I question his vision. Lack of pass catching production. Timeshare in any offense.

6. Chuba Hubbard - RB - Okla. State - 6'-0" 210 lbs. - A smooth, patient runner with good athleticism. Decent speed. Lacks power, can fumble and not much pass catch production. 1B in a zone scheme.

7. Kenneth Gainwell - RB - Memphis - 5'-11" 190 lbs. - Another OZS RB with excellent vision, balance and elusiveness. Lacks any kind of power and I don't think he has HR speed.

8. Kylin Hill - RB - Texas A & M - 5'-10" 215 lbs. - Strong RB with a bit of wiggle. Lacks HR speed. Can catch passes. Smooth, not explosive. Inside/Outside Zone Committee back.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

9. Jermar Jefferson - RB - Oregon State - 5'-9" 210 lbs. - Comes from a zone scheme and thats his best fit. Not explosive or fast. A steady runner that plays physically for his size. Good pass catcher. A 1B in a zone scheme.

10. Rhamondre Stevenson - RB - Oklahoma - 6'-0" 227 lbs. - a North/South bruiser with little in the way of HR speed or wiggle. Gap/Power back that can wear down a defense. Suspension red flags.

You have 3 backs that are 1st to early 2nd round guys, after that its 3rd to 5th or 6th round guys that teams will need to match fit with scheme.

WRs:

1. Ja'Marr Chase - WR - LSU - 6'-1" 205 lbs. - Opt out. Great size and speed. Great hands. 50-50 ball hawk and excellent at going up and getting footballs. Your go to WR when you absolutely need a catch. #1 WR

2. Jaylen Waddle - WR - Alabama - 5'-10" 185 lbs. - Game altering speed. Elusive, fluid with good hands. Scary in the open field. Has played all over the field. Slot WR with some outside work.

3. Devonta Smith - WR - Alabama - 6'-0" 175 lbs. - HR speed, super elusive with a rare suddenness to his game. Can play inside and out, his lean frame makes him a prime candidate for the slot for clean releases.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

4. Rashod Bateman - WR - Minnesota - 6'-2" 210 lbs. - Excellent route runner with excellent pace. Great hands and a 50/50 winner. Decent speed, but not a burner. Will win with route running and size over speed. #1 WR

5. Terrance Marshall Jr . - WR - LSU - 6'-3" 200 lbs. - Quick and fast, fluid WR with good hands that can beat you deep, over the middle or shallow and eat you up. Will go up and get it. Has played inside/outside. #1 or #2 WR that can play from anywhere.

6. Kadarius Toney - WR - Florida - 5'-11" 190 lbs. - Good speed, with a twitchy body that makes him dangerous with the ball in his hands. Tough for his size. Return specialist. Slot WR that can move around some.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

7. Rondale Moore - WR - Purdue - 5'-9" 175 lbs. - Super electric, HR speed. Return specialist. Smaller frame and has extensice injury history. When healthy, must be accounted for. Slot WR

8. Nico Collins - WR - Michigan - 6'-4" 215 lbs. - #2 WR. Nice Size/speed combo that can win 50/50, over the top or deep. Good hands. Lack of production and opted out. #2 WR

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

9. Amon-Ra St. Brown - WR - USC - 6'-1" 195 lbs. -Advanced route runner, tough and competitive, above average speed and excellent hands. Smooth athlete. #2/#3 WR

10. Tylan Wallace - WR - Oklahoma State - 5'-11" 195 lbs. - Smooth athlete with excellent feet. Good speed. Plays physically. Good hands. Ultra competitive, hard to bet against. #2 or #3 WR

Deep class that outside the top 10 gets has a lot of slot options. Top 2 tiers are 1st rounders, tier 3 and 4 are 2nd rounders.

TEs:

1. Kyle Pitts - TE - Florida - 6'-5" 245 lbs. - A rare athlete for the position. An extreme matchup problem anywhere on the field. Great hands. Can win at all three levels. Not a blocker. Receiving TE from anywhere.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

2. Pat Freiermuth - TE - Penn State - 6'-5" 255 lbs. - My #1 coming into the season, very good size/athlete combo with very good hands. Can block some. A seam buster. Used all over. Combo TE.

3. Brevin Jordan - TE - Miami - 6'-3" 245 lbs. - Physical, explosive, competitive. Makes for a tough tackle after the catch. Willing blocker. Combo TE in any offense.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

4. Hunter Long - TE - BC - 6'-5" 255 lbs. - Good long speed and a seam splitter. Size mismatch in the middle of the field. Good, soft hands. Not physical enough right now as a blocker. Receiving TE.

5. Tommy Tremble - TE - Notre Dame - 6'-4" 250 lbs. - Easy athlete with good, not great hands and decent speed that just lacked opportunities at ND. Competes as a blocker, but not his forte. motion action pass catching TE.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

6. Tre McKitty - TE - Georgia - 6'-4" 245 lbs. - Good hands, really fluid athlete for his size, willing blocker but needs more sand in his pants. A RAC machine. pass catching TE

7. Nick Eubanks - TE - Michigan - 6'-5" 255 lbs. - Michigans offense limited his pass catching opportunities, but a good blocker. Nice athletic profile with upside that can win in space. #2 TE in 2 TE sets.

8. Kenny Yeboah - Ole Miss - 6'-4" 245 lbs. - Good athlete with soft hands. Willing blocker that needs to add strength. good route runner and can find soft spots in zones. #2 TE with #1 upside.

9. Luke Farrell - TE - Ohio State - 6'-6" 250 lbs. - Tough run blocker and a load to bring down in the passing game. OK athlete, won't wow you. safety valve/possession type. #2 TE in 2 TE sets.

10. Quintin Morris - TE - Bowling Green - 6'-2" 250 lbs. - A pass and block TE that can do a little of everything. Competes regardless of pass catching or blocking. Good hands, OK athlete. #2 TE in any scheme.

Pitts has everything to become a generational talent. Tier 2 are 2nd round guys and #1 TEs IMO, after that, its mid round guys that will compete for 2nd and 3rd TE spots on rosters. Weak class outside the top 3. Might be plenty of reaches.

OTs:

1. Penei Sewell - OT - Oregon 6'-5" 325 lbs. - Opt out, was my #1 OT last year and no one did enough to unseat him. Big, quick, smooth and powerful. A 10 year starting LT. No real holes in his game.

2. Christian Darrisaw - OT - Virginia Tech - 6'-5" 315 lbs. - Size, quickness, smooth and strong. I think Sewell is stronger, but Darrisaw is a longterm LT prospect with a neddle pointing up.

3. Jalen Mayfield - OT - Michigan - 6'-5" 320 lbs. - a somewhat raw RT, Crazy power with really good balance and good mobility. Needs some refinement in technique, but thats to be expected. RT/LT/OG prospect.

4. Rashawn Slater - OT - Northwestern - 6'-4" 315 lbs. - His 32 3/4" arms make me think he is more a OG prospect than a OT prospect. Regardless, he handled Chase Young in '19. Another good strength/athletic OL prospect that should be a 10 year starter wherever you want him.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

5. Dillon Radunz - OT - NDSU - 6'-5" 305 lbs. - Smooth mover with enough power to handle bull rushes. Could use some weight/strength for the NFL. Showed at the Senior Bowl he can play OG or OT.

6. Liam Eichenburg - OT - Notre Dame - 6'-5" 305 lbs. - Good size (could use some weight) and lots of power. He is an OK athlete and can climb to the 2nd level and get after LBers but he lacks quickness that allows speed rushers to give him an issue now and again. LT prospect.

7. Teven Jenkins - OT - Oklahoma State - 6'-6" 315 lbs. - Played OG and OT. OK athlete, but a guy I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. He will beat you up for 60 minutes. Opted out halfway thru the season with a back issue. RT is his best spot.

8. Sam Cosmi - OT - Texas - 6'-7" 300 lbs. - A good athlete and a smooth mover laterally, combine that with his great length and there is a lot to like about his potential. Needs to add some weight and strength to that 6'-7" frame to handle power. LT/RT prospect.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

9. Alex Leatherwood - OT - Alabama - 6'-5" 315 lbs. - Average athlete with good power and nasty attitude. Can play inside and outside. I'd like to see him play with better leverage.

10. Jackson Carman - OT - Clemson - 6'-5" 345 lbs. - A mountain of a man. He struggles with speed off the edge. Power is there, as is a punishing attitude. The lack of foot speed probably moves him in inside. OT/OG prospect.

Tier 1 is round 1. Its a great group. Tier 2 are all 2nd round guys and again, its a really solid group. Tier 3 is 3rd round. Beyond the top 10, there is a ton of OT talent, I could have easily gone 13 or 15 deep on this list. You can find potential starters in year 1 or 2 all the way into the 4th round IMO

IOLs:

1. Alijah Vera-Tucker - OG - USC - 6'-4" 300 lbs. - LT for the Trojans, he lacks the size to be an OT in the NFL. Smooth mover with a good anchor. Good power. A perfect LG for a zone blocking team.

2. Wyatt Davis - OG - Ohio State - 6'-4" 310 lbs. - A mack truck in the run game, he's looking to put you in the ground. Decent movement skills and a good pass set. Can improve on some technique, but he's a day one starter at OG.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

3. Creed Humphrey - OC - Oklahoma - 6'-4" 315 lbs. - OL leader and makes all the line calls, A better athlete than he gets credit for IMO. Good power/strength and is a gamer. OC in power or zone.

4. Landon Dickerson - OC - Alabama - 6'-6" 326 lbs. - Power blocking team leader that can make all the calls, literally played all 5 spots for the Tide. Best suited as an interior blocker due to average athleticism. OC for a power blocking team. Multiple injury red flags.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

5. Quinn Meinerz - IL - Wisconsin Whitewater - 6'-3" 320 lbs. - OG that learned OC during the pandemic, he is a decent mover, but can get a bit lungey in space. Crazy power and looks to hit anything until the whistle. Best fit as a OC in any blocking scheme.

6. Josh Myers - OC - Ohio State - 6'-5" 310 lbs. - OC only prospect that will fit best in a zone scheme. Good, not great power, and a decent athlete. Room to grow, but a nice package.

7. Trey Smith - OG - Tenn. - 6'-4" 315 lbs. - nasty blocker that stuggles in space. Proficient, nothing to wow you. OG in a power scheme.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

8. Ben Cleveland - OG - Georgia - 6'-6" 350 lbs. - Powerful and flat out nasty. He's another punisher in the run game. Not the horrible athlete you would think of at his size. OG in a power scheme.

9. Tommy Kraemer - OG - Notre Dame - 6'-6" 320 lbs. - Think tin man when you think of his movement, but like most ND blockers, he is a powerhouse looking to flatten you. OG in a power scheme.

10. Deonte Brown - OG - Alabama - 6'-3" 360 lbs. - His hgt/wgt combo makes his anchor insane. Add in his power in the run game and if he can stay in shape, he can be a good OG in a power scheme.

Tier 1 is 1st round, tier 2 are 2nd rounders, tier 3 is 3rd rounders, after that its middle round guys. Plenty of man/power scheme guys, a few zone blockers. Its a decent group. I like the centers in the top 10 more than the guards.
