The OP’s larger point is that elite players are specialists.

Let’s take Whitworth in his prime as an example.
Sure, he could play either OG or the RT position and play them well. Hell, he could probably be a decent Center, too.
But he’s an elite LOT and that’s his specialty. Only an idiot OL coach would even consider playing him at any other position barring an extreme emergency.
Elite players are by definition specialists.
Except your "for instance" is unreal.
With only a few rare exceptions, no one plays more than one or two positions in their career.
And Whitworth was highly ranked--elite--at both guard and tackle.

Plus as I said the "only specialists" thing isn't a real point. No one plays guys all over the line year by year by year. So there's really no need to make up an argument about it.
But yes if your need demands it, there are top players who can play well at more than one position on the line, which has been proven over and over.
