Most likely takes them out of the running for a QB at 8.
On a different note, it seems we are not doing well on the values of players for picks. I am glad we made the Stafford trade, but I feel we gave up a lot to do so. Same with giving away Brockers - we literally got the least possible for him. They could not have found a trade of 6 for Brockers and a 7 or a 6 in 22 in 23?
There is a massive difference in value between Stafford and Darnold. Carolina's offers for the respective QB shows that.
Stafford offer: 8th pick, 5th round pick, Terry Bridgewater
Darnold offer: 2021 6th, 2022 2nd, 2022 4th. And we know that traditionally future year picks are discounted a round. So the real value for Darnold was a 2021 3rd, 5th, and 6th.
That's nowhere close to the 8th pick. In fact, according to the trade chart, those picks for Darnold are about 17% of the value of the 8th pick alone.
