Let’s assume that Snead doesn’t trade down and further assume that all remaining players are equally rated on their Ram board.
At that point it comes down to which position will provide best bang for the buck both short term and long term.
I voted WOLB, but only because I think we can get a stud C at #88.
Remember, the question in this poll is which position should be taken at #57, other positions can and will be taken throughout the draft.
I put other for the CB position.
Assuming all positions are equal, I think Snead would take either CB or LT because both of those positions will likely be HUGE needs after this season. I think it's probable that D-Will walks after this season.
Both CB and LT cost a lot of money on the free agent market to replace if a draft pick isn't ready. The same can't be said for Center or ILB. They already have bodies and recent draft picks at WOLB.
So the best way to get the most bang for the buck both short and long term is to have players developing at expensive positions - LT, CB, WR, etc.
Appreciate your explanation, dz.
While I see your points, I have a different take.
Both C and WOLB are 2021 needs. All others are ‘one year early’ picks.
We see WOLB very differently. While it’s true that we ‘have bodies and recent draft picks’ there, so what? They suck until proven otherwise. Consequently they are present time holes and therefore needs that must be addressed one way or another THIS year. Far, far bigger needs than ILB, I think.
Having said that, I messed up by leaving CB off the list. In the real world, a quality CB might just be the pick at 57 and BPA.
Interesting to see board opinions on this.
