Yes, calling Long a big flop is ridiculous. The coaches like him, and if not for the rapid emergence of Williams and the final year for Hill, he would have played a lot more. They are counting on him for more minutes next year with Hill gone. The Rams had the top defense and therefore there are backups at certain positions that may not have played much but have talent and are being groomed. The Rams also had next to zero injuries in the CB ranks, so that kept him on the bench as well. Also, he's better outside than in the slot, so there is that issue, but perhaps Williams can move inside. Regardless, out of sight does not mean a "flop", you need to dig a bit deeper than that. The sample size is way too small for what we see.
