It is my belief that Kromer is gone and Carberry is onboard strictly because McVay wants his OL to be more truly ‘fixed’ so that McVay can simultaneously have his Stafford and fully open up his playbook once again.
Rich Hammond has come flat out and said that the Kromer departure was not performance related.
And as a rule, if you are dissatisfied with a coach in performance or philosophy terms and want to move on, you don't wait for a month after hiring season is over to do it.
I’ve read that Jourdan has heard that the Rams will likely bring in 3 new OL this offseason, one way or another. That’s a conspicuously specific number, don’t you think? If that’s true, what should we deduce from that? Seems pretty obvious to me that McVay is looking for change and new direction on his OL results.
We’re both just spitballin’ here, obviously, but I think the dots are getting more easily connected for my POV.
All due respect to Hammond, but what does ‘not performance related’ really mean? Could it be a philosophical difference? A philosophical difference would account for the replacement decision without casting aspersions on Kromer’s coaching abilities. I dunno...
