I reviewed the PFF numbers on deep shots for Detroit over the last 4 years.
Marvin Jones was their primary deep threat in 2017 and he did a great job with 31 targets of 20+ air yards. Golladay was a rookie that year. Starting in 2018, Golladay took over as the primary vertical threat but that workload was still split between the two receivers.
From 2018 - 2020, Golladay has been the target on 57% of the 20+ yard attempts and Jones has been the target on 43%. That's not a 50/50 split but it's still a high percentage of attempts for Jones.
Detroit has not used him in any way similar to the role Robert Woods has filled on the Rams. If the Rams signed him, he'd fill the vertical threat role.
Marvin Jones is no longer in his prime but his tape over the last 2 years shows he's still got vertical threat ability when Stafford was slinging the ball to him.
The Rams may not sign Marvin Jones but I stand firm believing they will sign a Free Agent veteran WR to compliment the Woods, Kupp, Jefferson show.
After they extend Stafford and tinker with some cuts and other restructures with their heavy cap strapped players, WR feels like it will be one of the top 3 priorities prior to the draft.
