What HC doesn't make changes to the team and then OF COURSE knows he will bear the brunt of those decisions?
What business owner doesn't do the same thing? But to pretend that somehow McVay will be MORE in trouble, and MORE on a hotseat, than some other HCs if the Stafford thing doesn't produce some result that the fans and media have decided it must? Poppycock. The GM and the owner had to have been all-in on this or it never would have happened in the first place. But yes....duh... the buck stops on HC McVay's desk.
Thank God he's got some bigger shoulders than the do-nothing media, and a lot of fans who just like to wring their hands over pretty much everything.
It goes with the territory of being an HC and those who take the Fisher route of playing patty cake with the roster to try to keep it from floundering too badly, but at the same time those decisions will never be bold enough to make the team elite, are like professional politicians; job #1 is keeping the job. Clearly that isn't McVay.
As for the coach speak. Another thing I just don't understand. A coach is supposed to expose his plans? His rationale behind his strategy? Pour his guts out before the camera? Bow down to sports journalists? Reveal everything the media wants revealed? He's supposed to publicly trash a guy he let go because it's more open and transparent? It's bad to take the high road and just let things of the past stay in the past?
