I think the question is: what aspects of player acquisition?

February 11, 2021 12:07PM
I'm old school. As you said, the new way has wrecked the NBA and the chances are greater that it will decline into a game that looks more and more like NY street ball, than it will correct itself.

I'm not sure exactly what a QB brings to the table when it comes to player personnel decisions. They're players, trained to be players. Heck, most long time HCs that get the chance to directly affect player personnel decisions (sometimes all the way by getting the GM title) usually fail. These are different disciplines that require different skill sets and tons of time.

Certainly if you are a Superstar and the decision has a direct affect on you (like you're going to trade away your star WR like that idiot O'brien did in Houston), then a courtesy call to show respect is called for simply to let that Superstar vent.

But not like "you get a vote".

So I guess I'm saying that beyond a courtesy call to INFORM I have serious doubts that should a team ever involve a QB in personnel decisions it is a sign that the GM and perhaps team owner have lost control.

If Russ Wilson thinks the team's decisions are so bad that they need his direction, then either he needs to go or the HC or GM needs to go. And for all I know this is Russ's way of pushing a trade to leave Seattle. Watson is just more vocal about it all.

But I promise you that these 2 who think they have this much power didn't come to that conclusion overnight. Somehow they've become convinced of it or they're just doing everything they can to be cut loose.
