And I’m sure that some of these I list will upset a few posters, but here goes...

Rams fans clearly overestimated Goff’s perceived value to other teams. And by a mile.

Goff’s contract was a huge anchor in trade talks. Texans wanted no part and Rams struggled to find a 3rd party to give them a 1st to package in a Watson trade. Ultimately, it was so bad that Rams had to give an extra future 1st to Lions to make it worth their while.

Rams fans also hugely underestimated Stafford’s value around the league. Again, by a mile. There were reportedly 6-7 teams that actually submitted offers to Lions. That speaks volumes. Stafford was highly respected and the only reason he’s a Ram is because Holmes did him a solid and traded him to the Rams, as he requested. Rams did NOT make best offer to Lions.

McVay became totally convinced that Goff would never be able to effectively run his system. Some posters won’t like reading that, but I think it’s true. Once McVay reached that point, and to his credit, he made the decision to find best possible QB solution and pull the trigger. I admire that in an executive.


As some asides, I think that Rams are now poised for a deep playoff run if they can obtain quality C, Edge (2), speedy deep threat WR. That’s both doable and exciting news.

Snead has proven to be very good at finding talent for this roster, but he has also left a trail of overly expensive contracts that have cost dearly to ‘fix’.

I probably missed some because these are just off the top of my head. Snead needs to look in the mirror and figure out how to stop shooting himself in the foot with premature and oversized contracts. Maybe someone else needs to handle contract timing and sizing? Or is Demoff/Pastoors the problem?
