there is no replacing AD for sure, but teams that do not have AD can afford to pay guys like JJ, i would much rather have AD but be it Mack or Watt, it seems teams that invest so much in premier defenders often don't make it, then again, only one team wins every year.
I think the biggest thing that has held us back have been contract mistakes. Seems we have one left to deal with and we should finally be ok, but that dead money sticks around for awhile.

Contract issues were among those I referred to as awful. Crippling might be a better word, tbh. But those are water under the bridge now.
If Snead/McVay can fix C, Edge (two of them, mind you), maybe that speed WR we all crave, perhaps an ILB, then we might be in business.
Oh, that’s assuming that McVay can once again find that early ‘18 Goff version OR bring in a 2nd tier vet that can actually execute his O system. No problem.
