It's really hard to know what's going to happen with the cap. Does it go down to the stated floor? Do they find a way to spread the Covid losses among all 5 seasons and it doesn't decrease much or at all?
We don't know right now.
But assuming it doesn't go up, the Rams will be tight against the cap. And they are positioned to lose a lot of players on this #1 defense. Namely, Floyd, JJ, and Hill. I'm guessing they would much rather use money to retain one of those players than sign a free agent.
If they decided to retain one of Floyd or JJ, I'm not seeing much more available to do anything else.
This is why I think most of the offensive improvement will come from the draft.
