And while some will think that's a diss on Goff I think it was a TREMENDOUS accomplishment. You don't just 'fall' into that kind of performance.
We already know Goff thinks his thumb is fine. I don't think that's true although I do think he's right about 'no pain'. Who knows?
Starting next week... again, no idea. I think McVay and company are concerned about the thumb, as they should be. I think they're also concerned about Wolford's injury today.
I do NOT think Goff did anything today to make them think "We have to go with him"... but I also think Wolford did nothing today, (little as it was), to make them think he can't.
I DO think Goff did things today to make them think "he may not be the guy", (some of it not his fault IMHO)... NOT gross mistakes, he didn't make any... but he also wasn't anything to write home about which had he been would have made the decision for next week easy. Wolford had ONE, as in ONE, game in which he flashed some 'new', that Goff cannot do, which was GREAT but nothing that puts him into a "He's our guy" category.
Posted earlier that I thought McVay was between a rock and hard place going into this game... I think that's no longer true....whichever he chooses now I believer he gets the benefit of the doubt now. That's a big thing, to me anyway.
