When I see the vast bulk of NFL players including the major stars continue to play it does make me question, in general, the football commitment of the few opt-out players and I wonder if it gives GMs and HCs doubts about these guys that could cloud their futures. I'd be suspicious of a guy who opted-out unless he had an overriding medical condition that made him especially vulnerable, because it tells me that football isn't as important to him as it is for all the other players.

I don't about other guys but yes, Brewer was being treated for cancer while playing in his senior year.

He knows as many know that having has cancer puts you in a risk category when it comes to covid-19. Already btw 2 Rams OL have had it--Allen and Whitworth. So it's not this unlikely thing.

So in Brewer's case, yes as you said, it says nothing about your "love for football" if you intelligently understand that being a recent cancer patient entails risks with covid, as the medical community has made quite clear.

I would think playing his senior year while undergoing cancer treatment already tells us what we need to know about his character and his love of the game.
