He just doesn't have 10 top notch players around him anymore, and if he doesn't have that, he is exactly what we are seeing now. A middle of the road qb that lacks the ability to lift his offense. At least not consistently.
I think that's a fair point or in range of one. But...here's the thing. How many qbs have the ability to lift their offense? Is it even 4? Is that an unrealistic expectation? I mean what you say describes most if not all good qbs in the league--though there are the few elite ones who can do more with less (Wilson and Brady...and I dunno about Rodgers or Brees or Mahomes because they've never really had "less" that way).
There were games this year where they could not run but won because they threw it. Is that lifting an offense? Or just coming through?
Goff had 4 bad games and from I saw, not one of those was a loss solely and simply because of him. A couple of times in fact he started out a little iffy but stepped up in the second half, only for the team to lose anyway (Jets and Bills games, which I don't count as among his 4 bad games).
Not being argumentive in an antagonistic sense--but, this is not a settled issue and there's a lot of views about it. Just tossing in one of them.
