I’m glad you brought that up. People have been bashing the pass protection of the OLine citing that 54% number from PFF.
I never really thought Goff was forced to operate of a dirty pocket. I thought he was holding the ball too long.
This works both ways. We can cite the obvious that you need a clean pocket to be effective in this league.
But you also need a quarterback that is decisive and throws the ball when you can’t expect the line to hold off pressure till the 3-5 seconds range.
The important stat is what was the average time Goff had to throw.
I haven’t watched the game a second time but I recall not shouting to myself in exasperation “What’s wrong with the line?” when it came to pass protection.
