Rams have a ton of backs who have all failed to seize that starting job. Akers got hurt twice and the most recent was pretty bad given how he'd played the prior two games, where we lost that shot in the arm. Hendy has failed two years in a row to seize the job. Brown has as well and is limited and not as good a fit as the others.
If they trot Brown out there for 30 carries I'm going to be annoyed. Simply because he doesn't move the needle. Whereas a guy like Jones MIGHT be able to give us something.
I'll say this re: his college film... He's a solid all-around back. Bit of a slasher type runner, has an "action figure" running style that sort of makes me chuckle with his arms pumping like they do. Has good contact balance which is important behind this line. I don't know anything about his pass blocking but have to think he's willing. The Rams made room for him and kept him even after they added Calais for special teams. That tells me the rumors of him beasting in camp were probably accurate.
So I hope we see a good amount of him in this game.
