Like I said in another post, I'm not quite sold on Mayfield...
yet, but it's hard not to notice his progress from last season and even game to game. Honestly, I think part of my hesitance is how he owned my oSu Cowboys!!!!
He's starting to look like he did at Oklahoma. He drives me nuts with all the antics and showboating but no one can doubt he loves the game and is a hell of a competitor. His teammates loved him at OU, and it seems that is becoming the case in Cleveland. He's got a huge chip on his shoulder from being a walk-on starter at Texas Tech and it only grew after he had a falling out with Kliff Kingsbury aka "The Heartthrob," as Mike Gundy called him, only with a SMIDGE of condescension lol. Reminds me of Tom Brady in that respect. Except the Browns didn't wait until the sixth round to pick him lol.
Turnovers have been a problem for Baker, especially fumbles, but it's also been a problem for Goff.
Don't get me wrong, I think Goff is a fine QB. We can win with him. We have the talent around him to win a SB. I don't have any doubt about that. Goff just has to be safe with the ball and make smart decisions. Combined with our running game and wunderkind HC, that shouldn't be hard. He doesn't have to make plays with his legs or make backyard football throws. But I won't hold it against him if he does!
