What I’m saying is if Goff does nothing spectacular but manages the game well and wins, his detractors will still focus on negatives.
Don't you think that's warranted if he makes mistakes? At the half, Goff has not exactly lit it up. Do you think substandard or mediocre level of play should just be ignored when we're talking about a playoff team and a QB that makes it hard to trust him?
To be fair he threw a perfect pass to Reynolds prior to the pick, which was a bad pass, that Reynolds dropped. Had he not dropped it, the pick play wouldn't have happened. No excuse for the bad pick pass though.
We have to remember that is Bellicheat on the other side. I've seen his defense make adjustments on the fly, making it difficult to make plays. I'm not saying Goff has been great, he hasn't, but he hasn't been bad either.
I don't think you can excuse the bad pass just because there was a drop. It was a bad pass all on it's own. It isn't like it was a dropped TD. There were going to be more plays on that drive either way.
Goff has been okay tonight but he hasn't had to do much. McVay just took the ball out of Goff's hands on 3rd and 5 and would rather his defense took responsibility for the win. That's telling. Goff is serviceable right now but he isn't leading this team or a playmaker. Maybe the Rams can win with their own version of Trent Dilfer but I think Goff deserves to be criticized that he is that level of QB now.
