Rams jumped immediately into the top 3 in scoring in 2017 under McVay. Gurley had explosive plays from the backfield, Rams top 3 wideouts were a pick your poison situation for defenses and could roast whichever unfortunate CB3 was out there that day.
Continued in 2018 with McVay's best offense to date and a Super Bowl appearance.
Dipped to 10th in 2019 due to OL, RB, and WR injuries. Noteworthy is that Gurley and Cooks in spite of injury were actually on the roster and did factor in.
2020 Rams rebuilt at those key positions and now we are sitting 17th. Why? Well in spite of an improved offensive line the replacements for the big two veteran losses have underperformed. Players matter.
Looking at the playoffs the Rams do have some guys who can give us better play than we've seen. In other words we can gain explosiveness with better backfield play (both Akers and Hendy) and at WR3 (Jefferson). And our OL has actually been solid so it's not out of the realm of reason to think that our two young RBs who have good explosiveness can boost this offense IF we get more consistency out of them.
