Warner famously held the ball and was even praised for it. In New York that was a bad idea (24 sacks in 4 games). And then the idea that Goff never gets the ball off quickly is just plain incorrect. We've seen it. And yet now somehow you've arrived at the idea that he CAN'T? (!) This is my thing about balanced views. Discussions like this go to extremes and sometimes I sit there looking at them going "it is just not that simple, or cut and dried."
The point of bringing up Warner was simply that here's a qb we both know, who did change. It has nothing to do with any ideas you have about "case studies" or wherever it is you went with that. It's just an example I can count on us both remembering. That's one reason why when I see a negative with a player who also has positives, I don;t automatically assume the negatives are more real and are more likely to endure.
It's way to soon to be making some of the generalizations I see some people making. Truth? We have absolutely no idea if the Miami game was this big reveal or one bad game.

Did I say Goff never gets it off quickly? I don’t think so. My view is that he is up and down. Sometimes he gets it off quickly but often he he holds it and that lead to those strip sacks.
And I also said I don’t know yet for sure.

Well, regardless of their name, qbs can improve. That's not a promise when it comes to Goff, but it is reasonable optimism.
I do a different qb each time with this "year 5" thing and this time I will do Marino. In this 5th year, did Marino have any bad games? That was 1987. Back then we would have to say a bad game was one with a qb rating of 60 or below (the top 10 qbs that year went from 83.8 to 102.1).
So in 2007, did Marino have any games with a qb rating of 60 or below? He did have 3 in the 60s ...but yes one bad one by this definition. Against Buffalo he threw 3 INTs, no TDs, completed 46.4% of his passes, and got a qb rating of 25.7.
