Have you ever run a business that has several or more employees?
If you have, then you know that there are things you will not tell employees or others who ask because 1) they don't need to know, and 2) it's none of their business to know despite how they might feel about it.
Demoff is not holding an elected office. He has no obligation to disclose. He runs a huge multi-billion dollar entertainment organization and much is confidential. He's not about to tell the media things he doesn't want known. He's not about to tell folks about plans, personnel, etc. that in his opinion can do harm to the organization. And, unforeseen circumstances arise that often the media and fans think ought to have been foreknown, or planned for, but weren't because the reality is that you can't take the risk out of everything. There's only so much attention span to go around.
As for the uniform debate. I understand that this means a lot to some; it means close to zip for me. But to make Demoff the Devil because of a uniform change/choice is little overboard. Or to make him a liar is doing the same. Nothing he could have chosen.... including changing nothing about the uniforms.... would have pleased everyone because such things are matters of personal preference. And even if fans voted on it (how the heck that could ever happen I don't know) those who lost would be unhappy. Everything isn't a democracy.
Certainly Stan seems to think Demoff has done a good job. Everything I read puts Demoff at the top of the list of excellent executives of an NFL team. If he was fired, by the next day he'd be hired by another NFL team. Agents speak about how much they trust the Rams to do business with them, and how hard the Rams try to do the right thing by their players and staff. I sure don't read of players complaining...... only fans. And that usually has to do with winning. And Demoff is only responsible for winning as far as hiring the right people under him..... like McVay and Snead..... and letting them do their jobs.
I have seen/read nothing that would make me doubt Demoff. All doubt regarding winning must fall on Snead and McVay. The Rams have been very willing to spend the full cap every year and put out some big contracts for star players. Mistakes? Sure. But again, that falls on Snead and McVay.
