Well said, dz.
About the WR needed to take top off the D’. I’m not so sure that one is ‘needed’. We have 4 WR’s that can run routes and get open, not to mention a couple of scary TE’s. What is more needed is for Goff to see them quickly and throw to them accurately. Emphasis on quickly and accurately.
OL is playing plenty good enough, so the weak link seems to be Goff lately. I mean, it’s almost as if Goff has been playing with an undisclosed injury lately.
I'm not sure one is needed either 43 which is why I said we could probably use one. I'm also not certain that it's not affecting McVay's offense.
We do have 4 good WRs and 2 good TEs. So we don't lack receiving weapons.
But prior to this year, McVay had an emphasis on stressing the defense at all levels - short, intermediate, and deep. He said it was vital for his scheme. Then he decided to trade our most credible deep threat. Reynolds is not bad but he's not a deep threat on Cooks' level. And I think McVay knows that Reynolds is no Cooks.
I don't know for sure but my suspicion is that McVay felt he could evolve in his offensive scheme and it be just as lethal without the reliance on the deep threat. The jury is still out on that which is why I have a deep threat as a possible need.
